About us

Change the World RVA is a 501(c)3 established to support college students and young adults in Richmond, Virginia who are experiencing homelessness and housing instability.  We partner with an army of volunteers, churches, and organizations to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our youth. We are an all-volunteer organization.  We are the only organization in the region that specifically addresses the needs of college students experiencing homelessness.

Our friend, Jess

We are heartbroken to lose Jess Aber, a friend to our program and our students for over a decade. Each of us has our own "Jess story," and we have shared them with each other in gratitude for all she did for us. From the day she showed up with bagels and juice for our road trip to all the times she stepped up when we needed her most, Jess was as solid, sensible, and generous as anyone we know.

We are grateful that she wanted others to join her in supporting our students who have all experienced homelessness. Thanks to Jess and others in our village, they are each changing the world in their own way. We are proud of our "kids," and we are proud that Jess recognized the potential in our quirky program and our awesome students.

For those who would like to donate in her honor, please click here. We are truly grateful for your support. We will notify Jess's family of your gift. Thank you.

We love our village...

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Another Woman's Treasure in 2025!  Mark your calendars for Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3!

We invite you to support two small local, woman-owned businesses that have supported our kids and program for years -- Papeterie and Quilting Adventures. They have both been donation drop-off locations for Another Woman's Treasure, and we are very grateful for their support.

A huge, heartfelt thank you to the Newcomers of Greater Richmond, Chesterfield-Midlothian Kiwanis Club, the Brandermill Women's Club, and Bon Air United Methodist Church for their recent, very generous donations.

Thank you to Centenary United Methodist Church for becoming our forever home. It is great to be downtown and to be blessed with your warmth and generosity.

Our Birthday Card Brigade sent hundreds of cards to our students this year!  Thank you so much to Debbie Chichester for her love & diligence that make it possible.

We have so much to be grateful for. Thank you!

Connect with our students!

Our young people are the best. Here are a few ways that you can help our students and make a connection with some really outstanding young people.  â€‹

  • Celebrate the season with us at the Cookie Walk every December!

  • Donate purses and jewelry for "Another Woman's Treasure." On May 2 & 3, 2025, we will celebrate our 10th anniversary of this Richmond shopping tradition. We also recruit volunteers all year long.

  • Join the Birthday Card Brigade.

  • Invite us to speak at your church, organization, or community group. Natalie has a fun PowerPoint that tells our amazing story.

We are always collecting purses & jewelry for Another Woman's Treasure!
We invite you to join our email list!

We don't send many emails. But when we do, it's to share good news or to alert you to something important that's on our horizon.

Your details were sent successfully! Thank you!
